1. Encouraging Science Enthusiasts
Observer's Log is a collaborative science blog and public peer-reviewed research platform designed to encourage science enthusiasts, educators, students, and researchers to read, write, and share deep scientific knowledge. We bridge the gap between heavy academic journals and popular science media, providing a space where complex scientific ideas are described with rigorous mathematical clarity (via full LaTeX support) and structured, readable Markdown formatting.
2. Breakthrough Science Society — Thiruvananthapuram Chapter
This platform is proudly hosted and operated under the auspices of the Breakthrough Science Society (BSS), Thiruvananthapuram Chapter. Breakthrough Science Society is a voluntary, non-profit organization dedicated to fostering scientific temper, critical thinking, and logical reasoning among the public. BSS actively works to popularize science education, promote rigorous research standards, and challenge unscientific beliefs, dogmas, and superstitions across the region.
3. Our Core Mission
The Thiruvananthapuram Chapter and BSS seek to promote a rational outlook on society. We organize educational seminars, science exhibitions, and public debunking forums. Through Observer's Log, we aim to: provide emerging science students and researchers with a sandbox to hone their peer-reviewed writing skills; build a reliable, public archive of scientific explainers; and cultivate a community that values data, evidence, and logical inquiry above all.
4. Democratic peer review
Traditional scientific publishing is locked behind expensive paywalls and high entry barriers. We believe that scientific sharing should be open, democratic, and community-oriented. By offering a simplified, author-focused peer-review pipeline directly on our website, we invite anyone passionate about physics, astronomy, biology, chemistry, or mathematics to subject their ideas to peer feedback and see their reviewed articles published globally.
